Many people have mentioned this: The first is always the most special one. This is true. When my elder sister messaged me yesterday at two plus, three, saying we had a promotion, I wasn’t so thrilled or excited. But when my parents and I reached the medical centre and I looked at my sister’s bundle of joy, I knew what they meant by that. It’s how amazing how that little life can reached and touched your heart almost immediately. I said “almost” because the joy had trouble cutting through my hazy and foggy mind. I have a niece now!

The little bundle of joy that came into our lives on 26th Feb at 1.43pm. Weighing a mere 2.526kg, the princess looked so tiny and fragile. But she was so peaceful while she was getting her beauty sleep. She was good natured and remained quiet, drifting in and out of her hazy world of dreams while we chatted. Rather animatedly, I must add. She did not fuss at all, even during the breast-feeding, and she looked very calm and tranquil inside her little bundle of cloths.

The proud mother and her finest piece of art. After labouring for nine months, she was finally about to see her efforts yesterday. We were all cooing and talking about her features. The reason why we did not babble baby language to her is, I suspect, that we refused to corrupt her. Corruption can come a little later in life, when she is all grown up.
I’m still getting over myself. Pardon me for these few days.

Well, it was an impromptu decision actually. My second sister suggested going out to celebrate my eldest sister’s birthday, since she was coming home for dinner tonight. But we decided to buy the food back. After all, we can mix whatever food we want and we can take our time to eat, at the comfort of our own house.

Look at all the yummy food! Drooling? And my mother was was still wondering why I’m standing on a chair taking a photo. What’s the difference of one photo from another? Apparently a lot.

The talk after the dinner. Look how attentive everyone is. My mother could be such politician sometimes. Especially when she raises a finger to emphasize on a point. Pity I couldn’t remember what the point was though…

Ooh, look at that cake! Would you believe that that beautiful cake was actually from a NEIGHBOURHOOD bakery store? The design and taste can be on par with those famous brands. And we don’t have to pay a fortune for that similar cake!

This reminds me of a song by the famous Taiwanese boyband “F4″: Make a wish, make a wish…

Still smokin’…Sorry, couldn’t resist that. It has been downsize over here, but on the original photo, you can see the wisp of smoke coming from the extinguished candle.

The cutting ceremony of the cake. Would you look at the SIZE of those strawberries?
And that concludes the birthday dinner for my sister. And after that, we started to plan our mother’s birthday celebration since, to quote my sister, “the whole of Singapore seems keen to celebrate your birthday with you”…

There’s something that I’ve been puzzled about for a long time. Why must it be 21st birthday that is special, not 20th which is a round number or 22nd which is a nicer number? But anyway, since it has been a tradition, I might as well go along with it. So although today’s my official birthday, I celebrated my special 21st adulthood birthday with my family.

No, that’s not where we eat. We eat out at Singapore Science Center’s Sakura. They were having a yummy buffet at twenty four dollars.

What a nice golden key. The sign to not just adulthood, but also a sign to freedom. And it cost a lot too.

And I get my freedom! Finally!

My brother-in-law says that, for some reason, it looks like it’s my sister’s birthday, rather than my birthday celebration. Hmm…Corrections must be done.

There, is it better? And for your information, my sister is patting me on the head, as if I’m some pet…Erm…

And my second sister’s birthday gift for me. A tastefully designed bracelet. Looks nice huh?

This is my family on my 21st adulthood birthday. And I wouldn’t change them for anything in the world.
